We visited Brooklyn’s Dead Horse Bay in the summer of 2012, not long before Hurricane Sandy arrived later that year to temporarily wipe out decades of accumulation. “Dead Horse Bay Before Sandy“ uses photos and video and audio recorded in that visit. The audio accompanying the photographs was recorded in one take with no overdubs. The video section at the end uses the coinciding audio as recorded. The photos aren’t “videofied” by making them move or fade to each other, which I thought would be just a distraction from being able to fully take in the photos. I selected the photos from those which looked down at the beach.
