Pastoral: a satire
With art by Orin Buck including a painting, Adam and Eve Tempted by Television, and a video, Pastoral (2003).
Pastoral is meant as a gentle satire of the pastoral tradition, especially visions of Arcadia in visual art, which place naked people out in the woods as if this were a natural condition, not a pretext to make art with attractive nudes. The music has moments that suggest danger — that's when you see the people with clothes, the artists who are paying models to pose in the woods. Where's the DEET?
